Aalborg KBP
Pressure jet burner
Aalborg KBP Integrated burner design for Aalborg OS-TCi and Aalborg OC-TCi boilers
____________________________________________________________________________________________

General
Aalborg KBP is a modulating monobloc
pressure jet burner for burning diesel
oil and heavy fuel oil. The operation
of the system is automatic
and reliable. The burner is compact
and consists of few components.
Maintenance is easily carried out.

Description
The Aalborg KBP burner was originally designed
together with the Aalborg OS-TCi oilfired
boiler in order to get an integrated
design, where the two components are
matched for the highest combined performance
and lowest CO2 emission. The
Aalborg KBP burner meets customer demands for
reliable operation, easy maintenance and
minimum installation requirements.
The burner design is based on Alfa Laval Aalborg's
long-term experience in marine
boilers and combustion technology, ensuring
optimum burner performance.
The working principle of the pressure jet
burner is atomizing by oil pressure through
a nozzle (in brand name Aalborg KBP, the P = pressurized).
The oil enters the atomizing nozzle
at a pressure of approximately 30 bar(g) and
is pressed through the small nozzle holes,
which ensures a fine mist of oil droplets into
the combustion zone, where the oil droplets
are mixed with the combustion air. The combustion
air enters the damper at the bottom
of the burner house.
The fan is integrated in the fan house and
ensures the required air flow and velocity
around the oil lance. A diffuser disc is
mounted on the lance to ensure full mixing
of air and oil, which ensures a complete
combustion of the oil.
The oil components are all placed behind
a door on the side of the burner, where
they are easily accessible. The electrical
parts are placed above the oil components
behind another door, so no oil can spill
into the electrical parts. Access to the diffuser
disc and nozzle is given through a
top cover, which can be opened and afterwards
the lance can be withdrawn and
easily serviced.
