The Aalborg Industries Group's “Marine Boilers & Heat Exchangers” global business area represents about a third of the Group’s total business volume. Our expertise in marine boilers dates back to 1919 when the first marine boiler was designed at Aalborg Shipyard in Denmark while our expertise in heat exchangers dates back to 1914. Around 35,000 marine boilers have been delivered since 1919.
The Aalborg Industries Group’s advanced, reliable thermal fluid heating systems are delivered to a wide variety of mercantile ship types and can also be used on Floating Production Systems. Thermal fluid systems are often supplied as complete engineered systems and we strive to supply high performance, reliable and environmentally friendly solutions.
Through continuous innovation and development, Aalborg Industries has set the industry standard for Inert Gas Generators and Systems for decades. Aalborg Industries has close to 50 years of experience (since 1962) with Inert Gas Systems for the tanker industry and has supplied more than 3,000 Inert Gas Systems. Designing the appropriate Inert Gas System takes special engineering skills and Aalborg Industries’ expertise centres in the Netherlands and Japan supply innovative, reliable systems.
The Aalborg Industries Group is a leading supplier of service and equipment for Floating Production Systems such as FPSOs, FSOs, FSUs and oil rigs used in the offshore industry. The Group has operated a special expertise unit for this business segment since 2001. For decades, various Aalborg Industries companies have supplied their products to the offshore industry.
Based on well-proven in-house technology, Aalborg Industries introduced in 2009 the new business area “Exhaust Gas Cleaning” launching new and cost-saving sulphur emission abatement technologies to clean exhaust gas from ship engines as an alternative to lowering the fuel sulphur content.
In 2009, Aalborg Industries introduced the new business area “Water Treatment Systems” specialising in ballast water treatment.
In a joint venture agreement with the German Aquaworx, Aalborg Industries has initiated the development and global marketing of systems for ballast water treatment.
The maritime Global After Sales organization of Aalborg Industries is based in Aalborg Industries' own companies in 14 countries around the world, most of them conveniently located in major shipping hubs. Global After Sales takes care of commissioning of our equipment, operator training, inspections, condition reports, service, repairs, conversions, upgrades, maintenance contracts and spare parts supply.
Aalborg Industries’ Global Business Area ”Industrial boilers” is a supplementary area to the maritime products and activities of the Group and represents about 10% of the Group's business activities.
